Finding time to work on our own home has been difficult these past few months. This weekend we are forcing ourselves to take some time and finish a few items on our list. We love the concrete floor, but want to darken it just a tad, and reseal. Next up is the kitchen, where we are going to paint the cabinets and change the countertops. And baseboards... and hanging art work... and a backsplash for the kitchen... it's a never-ending project, but that's the fun of it.

My husband and I just celebrated our two year wedding anniversary. On Tuesday we enjoyed the chef's tasting menu at the Tasting Kitchen in Venice, and we decided we would take a long weekend. After much discussion of where to go and what to do, we realized we'd be much happier and able to relax if we just stayed put and enjoy where we live. So today, staycation starts with a short drive to the beach.
I'd really like to work from this office today. It seems so serene and organized. And that lovely garden behind the french doors... Fun to imagine.
